Fall Craft: Pine Cone Bird Feeder

Dear Readers,

Last fall, my therapy team and I put together a simple craft for our patients. Most of them enjoy being outdoors and working with their hands, so this activity worked perfectly!

Here is a list of the items needed:

  1. Opened pine cones
  2. String
  3. Peanut butter
  4. Oatmeal
  5. Birdseed mix
  6. Disposable tablecloths (this can get messy)
  7. Aluminum tins

First: Tie a string around the pine cones.

Second: Mix peanut butter with oatmeal.

Third: Spread the mixture thoroughly/evenly onto the pine cone.

Fourth: Pour the bird seed into the aluminum tin, and roll the pine cone until completely covered.

Fifth: Hang your bird feeder on a tree branch for the neighborhood birds to feast.

Hope you enjoy this activity as much as we did!

Best,
